Main Hall and Auditorium
The venue has many unique features throughout and the Main Hall and Auditorium is no exception. With a sprung wooden floor and non-fixed furniture the Main Hall and Auditorium uniquely offers the flexibility to create the environment you specify.
The Main Hall and Auditorium has the capacity to facilitate various layout styles required to produce large events such as live music concerts, theatre performances, business meetings, conferences, weddings and special occasions, banquets and dances.
Our professional event management service will help you manage and deliver all your event requirements. The venue also features a computerised Box Office system, which can assist in professional and community events. The Main Hall and Auditorium benefits from having access points to the main kitchen with full catering facilities, the Bedwas Hall with a fully licensed bar area and the Green Room with access to Stage and Stage Doors.
Power sockets have been installed throughout the area for large exhibitions, presentations and trade stand display needs. We also have a range of on-site specialist equipment including; sound, audio visual, Wi-Fi, projectors and screens, as well as hospitality facilities and services.
Our experienced staff and professional associates will ensure you have the capacity to deliver the most challenging event within a health and safety conscious environment.
The Venue provides access for all, with dedicated parking, ramp access into the building, two lifts to all levels and induction loop system in the Main Hall.
Stage and Balcony
The Stage is suitable for both small and middle scale theatre productions and live music concerts. Our non-raked proscenium arch stage has full sound and lighting facilities with built-in multicore to lighting and PA system (including induction loop).
The Stage is also complimented by eight dressing rooms, four at stage right and another four larger dressing rooms at stage left, accommodating for up to 150 people backstage. Dressing rooms are directly off stage, and facilities include toilets and showers.
The in-house professional technical equipment and services we provide ensure the optimum sound, light and presentation for your event. Specialist equipment is available on request; we regularly design, build and deliver technically demanding events.
The installation of professional sound, lighting, AV and stage equipment, including Wi-Fi and ISDN creates the highest quality and professional level of production for all events and productions.
Within the Main Hall and Auditorium is the upper level Balcony, accessible via the Foyer stairways and lift. The Balcony offers raked seating for an audience of 386.
Bedwas Hall
Located on the ground floor, next to the Main Hall and Auditorium, the Bedwas Hall can be used independently or in conjunction with the Main Hall and Auditorium.
The Bedwas Hall accommodates a large bar area and has access to a fully equipped catering kitchen. Due to the flexibility of the space it is frequently used for a range of business and public events such as; training sessions, radio broadcasting, breakout area, event café and for special occasions as a reception or dining area.
Glamorgan Suite
Situated on the first level, the Glamorgan Suite is popular for all types of social occasions, in particular wedding parties and family celebrations. The suite is also used for business seminars, presentations, training sessions, exhibitions and as a conference breakout area. The sprung wooden floor makes it an ideal location for dance classes, residencies and production.
The space includes a fully licensed bar and separate alcove area. The small, black-box proscenium stage, with direct off-stage dressing room, three and single phase power and dimmer rack is perfect for small scale performances, cabaret and comedy evenings.
Oriel
Located on the third level the Oriel is a versatile and ideal space for smaller events. The Oriel is set beneath large roof windows providing excellent natural light, and has proved to be a perfect venue for a variety of art and craft exhibitions and school workshops. The room has linear wall hanging areas, with pull out screens which increase the wall hanging space for displaying 2D work.
The Oriel is an excellent long-term residency location for dance and theatre companies with production and rehearsal space, truss hanging facilities and exclusive use of a production office, kitchen and toilet facilities.
Green Room
The Green Room leads directly off the Main Hall and Auditorium, and can be accessed independently from outside via the Stage Doors.
The space is mainly used by visiting performance companies, but also frequently hired for small group meetings as a breakout or workshop space for conferences, and during gala dinners or celebratory events as a private drinks reception area.
